How Can We Make People Matter in an Increasingly Technological World?

Jan 10, 2022 11:14:30 AM / by Kyle West

When you open your eyes in the morning, what’s the first thing that you do? And before you close your eyes at night, what’s the last thing that you do? If your answer relates to reaching for your phone, you’re not the only person prioritising your screen time.

GREATER ACCESSIBILITY TO THE EMPLOYMENT JOURNEY:

But what if using a phone can make the employment journey more accessible to our candidates? Although we’ve been using Onboarding technology and Artificial Intelligence since 2020, it was in November last year when we started sending out text messages directly linking people who have applied for jobs with us to chat with Nate, our AI assistant. This has encouraged our candidates to engage with us and start their recruitment journey.

In a world with an increasing number of automated solutions, Zoom Recruitment has embraced these technologies as an opportunity to Make People Matter.

By using technology to cut back on the admin that so easily weighs us down, it means that we have more time to spend on what matters most to us – people.

TECHNOLOGY TO PROMOTE RELATIONSHIP BUILDING:

Since 2020, we’ve been using Artificial Intelligence to automate and optimise how our candidates provide us with information about their skills, experience and work preferences so we are able to match them quickly and accurately with our clients’ requirements. You can read more about this initiative here.

This technology has shortened the process from job role creation to the selection process from more than 2 weeks to an average of only 3 days. What this means for our recruiters is that they can invest their time in building relationships with our clients and candidates, really understanding their motivations and goals.

GOING PAPERLESS:

We also implemented Automated Workforce Management software so that our rostering and timesheets are paperless, while connecting our clients and candidates. Additionally, this software records time and attendance for candidates on worksites and streamlines payroll for clients. By removing all of these time-consuming admin tasks, our recruiters have more time to be involved with our clients and candidates.

Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, our Onboarding Process had already been made paperless to provide a simpler solution for candidates. This proved to be an enormous benefit during the pandemic because candidates no longer needed to come into the office to complete their paperwork – they were able to do it from home. Adopting video conferencing meant we could conduct one-on-one and bulk interviews, as well as remain connected with clients during the lockdowns. We’ve still been able to perform and function at a high-level even though we’ve been limited by the lockdowns and restrictions and haven’t been able to go out to sites.

SO, WHAT DOES THE FUTURE LOOK LIKE FOR ZOOM RECRUITMENT?

I can honestly say that the future for Zoom Recruitment is far more exciting than our humble beginnings. We have the foundations to be the best by far. And most importantly, we have the right people doing the right things.
