Moving our Client to their New Distribution Centre Ahead of Schedule

Zoom Recruitment is an expert in providing Warehousing and Logistics solutions for growing businesses. We can help you move offices or distribution centres, grow your departments, and increase your productions and deliveries.

In this case, we assisted one of Australia’s largest online specialist bike retailers to upscale from a 4,000 square foot distribution centre to a 10,000 square foot distribution centre. And we did it 2 days faster than expected!

Warehouse and Storage - Featured Image (2)THE CHALLENGE:

The astronomical demand for bikes during the pandemic meant that our client needed to move quickly and efficiently to avoid any delays in the shipping and delivery of their products. They wanted to ensure that their online customers received seamless delivery across the 6,000 items they have available on their website.

Our client had streamlined the move over 3 weekends and needed between 40 and 60 pick packers, freight handlers and forklift drivers for AM & PM shifts to move from their old distribution centre to their new one.

BEING A BEARER OF SOLUTIONS:

Zoom Recruitment vetted 60 dependable casual warehouse and logistics staff across urban Brisbane. The job included arranging the stock to be packed up in our client’s old distribution centre, loaded onto trucks and then moved across the city to their new premises.

Through careful planning with our client, we had the capability to increase the number of casual warehouse and logistics staff from 5 to 10, then from 10 to 20, and finally from 20 to 40 - with another 20 staff available to assist with any peak requirements.

Zoom Recruitment’s Automated Workforce Management App streamlines multiple processes by having our candidates, clients and staff all operating on the same system. Using this app gave our client full transparency of rostering, payroll and reporting functionality. Our casual warehouse and logistics staff were able to check in on-site using GPS coordinates, ensuring we had live attendance and that we always had the correct number of people on the job. This in turn made it easier for the client to have all the required resources available.

ALWAYS OVER DELIVERING:

With the combination of hard work from Zoom Recruitment, the benefit of our Automated Workforce Management App and a clear line of communication with our client, the move between distribution centres happened 2 days faster than expected, leading to a very happy client. And we were able to display some of our values in the process, like our ability to plan, strategise and act like an outlaw, and to over deliver as consultants - not just client service.

This project was such a buzz. From meeting our casual warehouse staff on site and assisting with clock in and clock out, to working with our National Contact Team based at Head Office in Melbourne, being part of a team gave us a firm lesson that we can deliver to any customer when we work together.
