Three Huge Infrastructure Projects in Sydney Worth the Wait

Construction

Sydney, Australia’s most populous city, is seeing some big changes. In the coming years the city is set to evolve and grow further into its role as an international player in business, innovation and culture. At Zoom Recruitment, we’re excited to see the infrastructural projects that are going to be a part of this evolution unfold in the coming years. We’ve put together a list of the three infrastructural projects that are going to take Sydney forward.

Redfern North Eveleigh Precinct Renewal

Redfern has long been at the centre of conversations surrounding urban renewal and infrastructural development. A number of New South Wales Government agencies are in various stages of their research into the sorts of projects that are going to be tendered out to private organisations.

Of the projects that are currently underway, perhaps the most visible is the renewal and upgrade of Redfern Station. The Central to Eveleigh Transformation Strategy will see Sydney as a whole unlock the economic potential of this section of Sydney. The same initiative will see Redfern become the site of part of the new Sydney Technology and Innovation Precinct.

The Sydney Football Stadium & Stadium Australia Redevelopment

While it looks like Melbourne might be hanging onto the Grand Prix for now, sport in Australia’s most populous city is not slowing down. The New South Wales Government is currently redeveloping the Sydney Football Stadium and Stadium Australia (ANZ Stadium).

While a date hasn’t been set for the reopening of either stadium, they are going to be key fixtures in Sydney's sporting landscape. Playing host to some of Australia’s biggest sporting and music events.

Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan

The Australian Government is currently in the process of carrying out its commitment to spending $4.1 billion on infrastructure projects in Sydney’s west. The goals of this spending being to invigorate this section of the city and open up the economic potential that western Sydney holds.

Upgrades to the Northern Road, the construction of a new east-west motorway to the airport and upgrades to the intersection of Ross Street and the Great Western Highway are all part of the ongoing plan. With a further attribution of $200 million dollars to be delivered over four rounds over the course of the ten-year project.

The efforts that are being made now to ease congestion will support economic growth in these regions of Sydney’s west. The goals of easing congestion and encouraging greater freedom of movement are going to see great things made possible for Sydney as a whole.
